Sandy is a first generation American Citizen who was born in Stockon, CA and raised in Buffalo, NY. Despite growing up next to Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, sailing seemed out of reach. Sandy earned her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida and has dedicated her life’s work to working with children, specifically children with behaviors and neurodivergences’. It wasn’t until college that she was introduced to sailing. While studying, Sandy began working for North Sails Gulf Coast and Merlin Yacht Racing as Shore support and Program Assistant. Competing locally and supporting Merlin Offshore is when she fell in love with sailing. Now, Sandy races out of Marina Del Rey as a Bowman and is pursuing her Captains License and Wilderness First Responder certifications. She was crew on “Good Trouble with Captain Marie Rogers, sailing on the Transpac Race and is trying to qualify for the Ocean Globe Race.
