Deep Sea Conservation Festival, Dr. Mickey Rogers

Dr. Mickey Rogers takes pride in being a dedicated collaborator, skilled researcher, effective science communicator, and proven leader in the ocean-climate world. As a chemist, she studies an otherworldly field of airborne algae and its impact on human health and climate. As an advocate, she is dedicated to serving as a hub leader for Sustainable Ocean Alliance Pacific Northwest and a grassroots manager and lobbyist lead for Citizens’ Climate Lobby. She is passionate about bridging science to policy so informed and actionable change can be achieved.  Dr Rogers is a chemist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and Co-Founder at Sustainable Ocean Alliance Pacific Northwest.

Mickey served as the Head Organizing Officer, Partnership Coordinator, and Grant Manager for the Deep Sea Conservation Festival held August 25th in Seattle, WA. The DSCF was an invitation to everyone, regardless of age, background, and expertise, to explore the complexity of the deep sea, the intersection between a healthy ocean and a healthy community, and solutions to current threats to this vibrant ecosystem. The youth-led festival attracted over 500 attendees and facilitated over 170 emails to Washington Senators asking for their national support on deep sea protection and legislation.
