Karen Lile is in London, and was officially granted the Freedom of the City of London today in an ancient traditional ceremony at Guildhall in London. She is now considered a “Citizen and Stationer & Newspaper Maker of London”. She was accompanied by several members of the Court of Assistants of the Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers, and Liveryman of more than one company of the 111 Livery Companies of London.
She took an oath, signed her name into the records for the city with an calligraphy pen, and was presented with a certificate on sheep’s vellum that says “London to Witt: Karen Eileen Lile, Citizen and Stationer & Newspaper Maker of London was admitted into the freedom aforesaid and made the Declaration required by Law in the Mayorality of Alastair John Naisbitt King DL, Mayor and Caroline Louise Al Beyerty, Chamberlain and is entered in the book signed with the Letter DT relating to the purchasing of freedoms and the Admissions of Freeman to wit the 28th day of January in the 3rd year of the reign of King Charles III, and in the year of our Lord 2025. In witness whereof the Seal of the Office of Chamberlain of the said City is hereunto affixed dated in the Chamber of the Guildhall of the same City, the Day and year abovesaid.”
