Johannes Nordemar has been an active sailor, for pleasure, with his family. And using a Dinghy is an essential part of pleasure cruising in many parts of the world. He invented a Davit called a Dinghy Ring, and Karen Lile of Sail Sport Talk had an opportunity to try it out on the San Francisco Bay this last month. Johannes and Karen will be talking today about this new invention and what sailors in Stockholm, Sweden are doing.
Johannes Nordemar at 43 years old, likes to think outside the box and to enjoy life. His first mission is as a husband and father of three children. Professionally, he has Iworked as a boat journalist for the Swedish magazine Praktiskt Batagande (translates into Practical Boat Owner) for 15 years and writes about gear, accessories, restorations of boats and much more.
In 2013 he started to develop a prototype for a new kind of dinghy davit, based on his own problems and the difficulties he had with hoisting a dinghy on a small sailing boat. In 2015 the first product was ready, and he named it Dinghy Rings. In 2017 he and his small team released two other products, now covering most of the boats on the market. Today his company Dinghy rings, sells internationally, they a validated patent in several big countries, including USA and Canada. The are about to launch a dinghy davit for recreational vehicles.
