New Zealand wins the Cup -now what? There is a rumor of a possible one-off between INEOS and Emirates around the Isle of Wight – as a nod to the historical beginnings of the competition. But anything goes as the winner and the challenger duke it out over the next 8 months as to the type of craft, the location and the rules are agreed upon. And that is just the beginning of several years of court challenges- typically.
It takes a minimum of 20 million for any country to build the chosen craft. This knocks out many would be competitors.
Christopher Caen and Karen Lile agree sticking to the boats raced this year would make it possible to see the teams really excel on the art of sailing vs the art of wrangling a brand new design. Increased speed and maneuvering will develop. However does this agreement between our hosts take into consideration the cost will not likely come down? An interview with those who design and build the boats is in order. The difference between the first boats used in the Christmas Cup and the PRADA Cup and the versions used in the America’s Cup alone make one wonder at what the expense really is
We have to hang in there for the breaking news down the line.

It’s a nail biter as the races build up – starting the day tied up NZ 3-Italy 3 – the wind is good for racing but flighty within the course. Emirates wins the first race and then Prada looks to match it up. Then all hell breaks loose.
Catch up on the Cup with Christopher Caen and Karen Lile this morning! It’s been very exciting so far. We overhead a New Zealand sports announcer say he was sweating from the stress!
As of today its 6-3 and its been excruciating to watch. Jimmy Spithill needs to pull a rabbit out of the hat for Luna Rossa Pirelli Prada during the next competition. Available on NBC evenings at 7pm.

Chris, Karen and Rick chat about the PRADA CUP results and how LRPP’s win plays out for the America’s Cup Challenge.
The foils of these crafts are key to the aerodynamic aspect of the races. Less aggressive as they are so concentrated on just getting up and staying up.
The races start on March 6th – watch at 7PM PT the day before the published race day (March 5TH) as New Zealand is about 17 hours ahead depending on where you live.

Chris, Karen and Rick chat about what’s next for the PRADA CUP.
With four wins on the scoreboard Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli comes away having stamped their authority with the first to seven going to the Match, INEOS TEAM UK path gets steeper and steeper.
Tight races with Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and INEOS TEAM UK displaying perfect one-on-one duels of tacks and tactics, was followed by a race in which the British team made a pre start mistake and were left chasing the Italians for the remainder of the race.
With the boats performance looking pretty even, the start becomes a defining moment. The Italians simply sailed better and dictated both races to the British.

Post the INEOS win – Chris, Karen and Rick chat about what’s next for the US team Magic after the spectacular crash on the way to winning a challenger race.
Rick brought up a discussion about the Admiral’s Cup and if it still exists. Chris related it to the international IOR series – 100 of the top-racing boats – racing at multiple locations around the world culminating in the ROLEX Big Boat Series in San Francisco. Ocean Racing at its best back in the day.
Karen has acquired press credentials but its not easy to get into New Zealand and finding a play to quarantine. She is contemplating a bareboat charter in the Cook Islands for the required 14 days prior to flying into Auckland by late February.
So what’s next in the race schedule? The Wild Card Cup!
The finals for the trophy are on March 6 and 7 and the 13th with the best of seven races.

Join in with Christopher Caen and Karen Lile on a Cup of Caen with Scotch as they bring you up to speed on the dramatic events during the ongoing Prada Cup this past weekend in Auckland, NZ.
American Magic led the headlines with a dramatic crash into the sea.
American Magic capsized in a strong gust of wind while leading around the final mark of RR2 Race 3 against Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli. All team members onboard were quickly accounted for by the teams on-the-water safety personnel and declared safe. But the racing yacht PATRIOT was damaged during the incident forcing the team to stabilise the boat and keep it afloat before a long tow back to shore. The boat made it back to shore at 10:45 PM NZDT thanks to a joint effort between the team, event and local authorities, as well as the other three America’s Cup teams who rushed in to help.
