Trevor Steel grew up in\u00a0Australia.\u00a0Like most Australians, water was part of his upbringing\u00a0and although sailing was always\u00a0intrigued him, in Australia at the time, sailing was a\u00a0pastime\u00a0for the wealthy; something he was not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It wasn\u2019t until he moved to the US in the early 90\u2019s that sailing came within reach. Over the next 30\u00a0years Trevor\u00a0progressed from dinghies through to 62\u2019; cutter ketches.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trevor gained his\u00a0Master\u2019s\u00a0License in 2009\u00a0by walking through the door of the local Coast Guard Examination Center and sitting the exams cold-turkey. In 2010\u00a0he\u00a0joined OCSC Sailing School in Berkeley as a professional instructor\u00a0eventually\u00a0teaching the full gamut of US Sailing courses from Basic Keelboat through to Offshore Passage making.\u00a0In 2018 he took on the role of Head of Instruction at OCSC\u00a0and\u00a0stayed with the school until Covid forced its closure in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Plus he is a Senior Navigator and Certified Instructor with the US Sail and Power Squadrons<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
