For 104 years, the Pacific Inter-club Yachting Association has hosted a parade of boats, representing its 106 yacht clubs, the USCG, the SF Fireboat Phoenix, the Potomac, and a Committee boat with 200 guests and several judges for the decoration competition on the boats, as they sail past and then go along to display to the throngs along the San Francisco shoreline.
This year, with all public events and yacht clubs shut down due to the pandemic, PICYA Vice Commodore Patti Mangan, suggested a parade of model boats – sourced from home during the Stay in Place Government order. Everyone liked the idea and within 2 weeks, over 100 model boats entered into the Virtual Parade- at least 15 of them actually floating on the water in videos ( 2 hour video of event .
Guests today, representing this event on April 26, 2020 are PICYA Vice-Commodore Patti Mangan and emcee Dave Breninger. Patti Mangan is a regular contributor to our show behind the scenes, and was a guest on the show in October 2019 about Fleet Week.
