Skipper Taylor Canfield

Taylor Canfield was first interviewed on April 9, 2019 on Sail Sport Talk, just before he competed in the Long Beach Yacht Club Congressional Cup. He is the America’s Cup Stars and Stripes Team Skipper and crewed on Sail GP Team USA and is Skipper of US One Sailing.

Regarded as the best American match racer in decades, Taylor Canfield has dominated the sport of sailing since exploding onto the scene in 2011.

The World Match Racing Champion and four-time Congressional Cup winner has been ranked the number one match racer in the world for three of the past five years and won 14 World Match Race Tour events.

A world-renowned skipper in both mono and multihull sailing, he joined Stars & Stripes Team USA, campaigning for the 36th America’s Cup, after two years competing on the Extreme Sailing Series.

Born in New York, Canfield currently lives in Miami, FL. Having graduated from Boston College, his lifelong goal has always been to win the America’s Cup. When he’s not sailing, he enjoys kiteboarding.
