SailGP France Driver Quentin Delapierre

This mornings interview is with the driver for SailGP France onsite at Pier 96 in San Francisco where all the SailGP teams are headquartered.

Quentin Delapierre was signed by the France SailGP Team during Season 2, replacing former skipper Billy Besson as Driver.

During SailGP Season 2, France will try and achieve a second wind. Working with renewed energy, the French will forge ahead to achieve their key objectives of reaching the podium at each event while also promoting a higher purpose through SailGP. France SailGP Team also presents an official team of eSport athletes for Season 2 of the eSailGP Championship. The virtual version of the high performance championship in F50, has this year an official national team representing France in partnership with MCES, one of the first French professional eSport clubs.

Youth
Delapierre sailed for the first time in the Gulf of Morbihan at the Cataschool in Larmor Baden in a sport catamaran before embarking on the Olympic adventure, starting with the Laser at the France pole in Brest.

Career
His formative years pushed him to set up professional projects first in J80 (European champion in 2014) and Match Racing, then on the Tour Voile where he competed in four remarkable campaigns with two victories in 2016 and 2018.

In 2018 came the opportunity to relaunch an Olympic campaign in Nacra17 with the experienced Manon Audinet. Their progression was dazzling and the duo landed their ticket for the Olympic Games only a year-and-a-half after their association. Together they put in good performances, claiming a victory in a world cup and earning the title of vice champion of Europe. Their 8th place was encouraging and pushed the racer to take up new challenges.
