Marie Rogers: Transpac DEI Dream Team

We interview LAYC Staff Commodore Marie Rogers in Los Angeles – to talk about her successful completion of the Transpac Race on Good Trouble.

The Transpac’s bi-annual open ocean racecourse measures some 2,225 nautical miles to Hawaii.

Below is the interview we did before she left on the race.

Offshore Racing Outreach (ORR)

Mission: To establish a program for the recruitment, education, and training of sailors in the sport of big boat offshore sailboat racing.

Recruits of all backgrounds will be eligible: however, an emphasis will be placed on those of lower income, traditionally excluded (i.e. by race, gender, or religion), and underprivileged status.

Vision: The program will enter offshore racing events under the Los Angeles Yacht Club burgee (or other yacht clubs as the board may select from time to time). Offshore Racing Outreach does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.

We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our board, staff, volunteers, and clients.

Operations: ORO will acquire, maintain, and support any and all equipment to further the mission.
