In Bristol, Rhode Island, US Sailing announced that the Men’s 470 athletes, Stu McNay of Providence, R.I, and David Hughes of Miami, Fla., have officially earned selection to the Tokyo 2020 U.S. Olympic Sailing Team and are nominated to Team USA. Congratulations Stu and David!
Caleb Paine, formerly on the US Sailing Olympic Team, has his new role as a member of the New York Yacht Club American Magic Team. Caleb is on his way to Auckland, with a plan to work hard, learn from an amazing group of sailors, and try to contribute any way he can to bringing the America’s Cup home.
While the US Sailing Team will miss Paine on the water, all of the athletes, coaches, and staff, and we at Sail Sport Talk, wish him well in this next chapter.
In Auckland, New Zealand, Defiant, the first AC75 racing yacht built for New York Yacht Club’s American Magic Team, has arrived in New Zealand. The AC75 departed from the team’s winter base in Pensacola, Florida on May 28th and was shipped through the gulf of Mexico, transited the Panama Canal and then crossed the Pacific to now arrive in Auckland. Terry Hutchinson sent his greetings to Sail Sport Talk.
