Lightning Storm at Sea Clipper Round the World Race

October 22, 2019. A meteorological phenomenon and lightning storm captured on video as the Clipper Race fleet approached Uruguay After a hard fought and challenging 5,200 nautical miles across the Atlantic, the Clipper Race fleet faced one more hurdle in the last 24 hours as they started to get closer to the finish line in Punta del Este, Uruguay.

The notorious Pampero wind is a meteorological phenomenon commonly found around the lowlands of Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. This burst of cold polar air can be violent and picks up very quickly. The Clipper Race fleet experienced this natural force as they raced down the coast.

Imagine what lies on the cutting room floor for us to be able to view 24 hours of hell in a few well edited moments and with a shared sense of triumph.
